Pam Mitchell, Owner. After 25+ years in corporate healthcare and another 10 in agriculture (management), 6 cities, 8 houses, & a lot of life, Pam found “home” October of 2023. The brutal heat of Texas and the need for space timed perfectly with a social media posting about a 40-acre orchard in Ludington, MI. She promised her brother to actually visit the house before the offer was made, especially since she had never heard of Ludington and knew not a single soul in the surrounding 200 miles. Thankful for Nadine (a winery friend from Santa Cruz and the current proprietor of Michigan Fibershed in Boyne City, Nadine joined Pam for the tour of the property; and provided much needed insight and grounding. 

Pam arrived in Ludington transporting 3 dogs, 17 cats, a guardian angel, Sadie, and a life’s worth of treasures and random stuff. The journey would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of Vicki, Pam’s bestie, who made sure the Mitchell crew and possessions were packed. It was Vicki who drove the van 20 (out of the 24) hours straight through to Michigan.  And Kevin (Vicki’s husband), on a separate trip, delivered the one escapee cat, Blue. 

Pam’s dream of owning a piece of land was formed as a young girl exploring the woods behind her house in Toledo, OH, listening to John Denver (a guilty pleasure to this day), and enjoying summer camp at a horse ranch in Hocking Hills, OH. She traded her initial career plan of being a forest ranger for a business/organizational behavior track while at the University of Michigan but never lost the desire to have land, space, fresh air, and animals.

Pam has “retired” to a completely new endeavor – one that includes honeybees, lavender, orchards, a tractor named Holly, and Little Red, the farm truck. Limited (only) by time and money, she has great plans for the property and the farms' bounty - and hopes that you will enjoy the adventure and abundance with her. . . 

Roger Dillon, Stepdad and Official Mower Man. Roger has been a constant source of support for Pam since a fateful day in 2009 and Apricity since the beginning. He has shared his wisdom, tips, and the “cowboy-way” allowing Apricity to come into itself and teaching Pam to maintain it – fence building, wiring, tuck pointing/mortar, blade sharpening, etc. Apricity would be a fraction of what it is today without the commitment of Roger. Summertime finds Roger on the mower, advising on any one of a 1000 projects, giving butt rubs to Oscar (the dog), or spouting Roger-isms – unless the fish are biting…

Ed Malkowski, Bee Mentor & Farm Life Guide. Ed became Pam’s bee mentor in May 2024 and shortly thereafter, a local bestie. At 91, Ed graciously shares his endless wit and wisdom about life, farming, and bees helping Pam plan and prioritize the next chapters of Apricity Farm.  Never short of new ideas, Ed keeps Pam on her toes and well supplied with Mead.

The Mitchell Furries. Anyone who knows Pam knows her furries are her kids. Cheaper (okay, maybe not cheaper) and more effective than therapy, her merry band of cats and dogs keep Pam busy and grounded (mostly).
